Pastoral Training Seminar at the Oakwood Centre on February 15th
There is still space available.
The title for the seminar is taken from Proverbs 4:23 where the writer urges readers: ‘above all things, guard your heart, for it determines the course of your life’.
Paul urges his young charge, Timothy, to keep his conscience clear. He cites a couple of examples of believers who had violated their consciences and made shipwreck of their faith (1 Timothy 1:19-20). Such examples are sadly still to be found, even among Christian leaders and ministers, leaving shipwrecked families and scandalised churches in their wake.
This seminar aims to render shipwrecks extinct in Taking Ground(TG)! Or, at the very least, a highly endangered species! We shall take an honest look at our vulnerabilities and suggest some positive healthy habits of life and ministry, designed to minimize risk and maximise wisdom.
The format of the last seminar seemed to be appreciated, so we shall follow a similar one this time, with three interactive sessions and an extended Q&A. The input will be provided by members of the TG Pastoral Team and others whose stories are instructive.
Refreshments will be available from 9.00 am and the first session will begin promptly at 9:15. There will be a coffee break in the middle of the morning, and we shall finish not later than 1:00 PM.
This seminar is open to all who care pastorally for others, whether in work, at home or in the church. It will be particularly relevant to those in counselling ministries and, of course, to those who are part of church leadership teams.
It is helpful to have some idea of numbers, from a catering point of view, so please ask those coming from your church to register by Monday 10 February, if possible. Of course, nobody will be turned away who pitches up, unexpected, on the day!

Looking forward to learning and growing together,
Rick Thomas (for the Pastoral Team)
